The Types Of Wax We Use (And Why It Matters)
Not all wax is created equal—and your skin can tell. Skin type, hair type, and the area being waxed all matter, which is why we customize every wax service at our Roseville wax center. We use stronger waxes for large areas like legs, arms, and backs, and gentler waxes for sensitive services like Brazilian waxing, underarms, and facial waxing—because smooth skin should never be one-size-fits-all.
Hard Wax
Hard wax is a peel-off wax that wraps around the hair and lifts it out cleanly, without sticking aggressively to the skin. It’s especially well-suited for sensitive areas like Brazilian waxing, underarms, and the face, where comfort and control matter most.
The hard wax we use is fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, and designed for sensitive skin, making it a reliable, gentle option for delicate zones. It’s one of the tools we use to customize your wax—chosen for where we’re waxing, not because one wax works best for everything.
Soft Wax
Our soft wax is fragrance-free and works best on fine hair and larger areas like legs, arms, and backs, where it delivers smooth, efficient results. We use it thoughtfully, with proper skin prep and careful technique, to keep skin comfortable and protected.
It’s not our default choice for intimate waxing. For more sensitive areas, we select different formulations—because the best results come from choosing the right wax for the right area, not forcing one wax to do it all. Soft wax is one of the professional formulations we use to customize your wax based on hair type and treatment area.
Fragrance Free and Sensitive Skin Focus
We prioritize fragrance-free wax options because sensitive skin doesn’t need extra ingredients it didn’t ask for. Added fragrance is one of the most common triggers for irritation, especially during services like Brazilian waxing, underarms, and facial waxing.
Our approach favors simple, well-formulated waxes designed to perform without unnecessary fillers. Fewer additives doesn’t mean weaker results—it means effective hair removal with less risk of redness, breakouts, or post-wax sensitivity. If your skin tends to react easily, this is where customization really matters.
How We Chose The Right Wax
We don’t guess—and we don’t use the same wax on everyone. Every service is customized based on hair texture, skin sensitivity, and the area being waxed, because those details matter more than trends or shortcuts.
We also factor in your waxing history, how your skin has reacted in the past, and what’s worked best for you before. This is where experience shows up: choosing the right wax, at the right time, for your skin—so results are smoother, more comfortable, and more consistent over time.
-
Not necessarily—each type of wax has its place. Hard wax and soft wax are designed for different hair types and areas of the body, and the “best” option depends on your skin sensitivity, hair texture, and where you’re being waxed. That’s why we choose the wax based on you, not a one-size-fits-all rule.
-
It can—but technique, skin prep, and choosing the right wax for the right area matter just as much. Different waxes behave differently on the skin and hair, which can influence comfort, but pain isn’t about one wax being “good” or “bad.” When the wax is matched to your hair type, skin sensitivity, and the area being treated, the experience is typically smoother and more comfortable overall.
-
It can happen, especially if your skin is sensitive or prone to congestion—but it’s not inevitable. Breakouts are often influenced by factors like skin type, post-wax care, friction, and product buildup rather than the wax alone. That’s why we use fragrance-free options when possible, customize the wax to your skin, and provide aftercare guidance to help keep your skin clear.
-
Yes—when it’s done thoughtfully and with the right products. Sensitive skin benefits from fragrance-free wax options, proper skin prep, and choosing the right wax for the area being treated. That’s why we customize every service and take your skin history into account, so waxing can be both effective and comfortable for sensitive skin.
