Questions?

We know your first wax can come with a lot of “uhhh… is this normal?” moments, so we put together answers to the questions we get asked the most. Still curious? Still nervous? Still Googling things you probably shouldn’t?
Reach out — we’re happy to help with anything you want to know.

  • For the best (and smoothest) results, your hair should be about ¼ inch long — roughly the length of a grain of rice or about 3-4 weeks of growth after shaving.

  • You must be 18 or older to book a waxing service on your own. If you’re under 18, no worries — we just need a parent or guardian’s signed consent form before your appointment.

    For Bikini Services:
Guests must be at least 16 years old, with a parent or guardian present in the room and a signed consent form at the time of service.
Unfortunately, anyone under 16 will need to wait a little longer before booking a bikini wax.

    Things to Consider:

While we don’t set a strict age limit for services outside of bikini waxing, we do encourage parents to consider their child’s age, comfort level, and pain tolerance before booking. For example, a full leg wax on a ten-year-old is often more discomfort than it’s worth.

At Pluck Yeah! Wax Center, your comfort always comes first, including youth. We reserve the right to refuse service to any client who expresses discomfort or decides they no longer wish to continue — regardless of parental consent.

  • Yes! You can absolutely still get a Brazilian wax during your period. Just know:

    • You’ll be a little more sensitive — Your skin and nerves can be more tender around your menstrual cycle, so it may sting a bit more than usual.

    • Wear a clean tampon or menstrual cup — For hygiene and comfort during the service.

    • Let your wax specialist know — It’s totally normal for us, and we’ll make sure everything stays clean, professional, and discreet.

    • Avoid pads during the service — They can’t be worn while waxing and aren't sanitary for the treatment table.

  • Everyone’s hair grows a little differently, but you can expect your smooth results to last about 3 to 4 weeks.

Most guests start to see a little regrowth around week three, and the more consistently you wax, the slower and softer your hair will come back. With regular appointments, you’ll notice fewer hairs, less discomfort, and longer-lasting smoothness — basically, a Pluck Yeah! win all around.

  • We won’t sugarcoat it — waxing isn’t totally pain-free, but it’s way less scary than you think! Most guests describe it as a quick sting that’s over before you even realize it.

Our wax specialists are total pros who know how to make the process fast, smooth, and as comfortable as possible. Plus, we use high-quality wax designed to grip the hair, not your skin — so you can breathe easy and say Pluck Yeah! to silky results.

  • Absolutely! Every Pluck Yeah! Wax Specialist is licensed by the Board of Cosmetology and trained to deliver top-tier results with expert precision. We’ve mastered the art of quick, clean, and comfortable waxing — so you can relax knowing you’re in the hands of a true pro.

  • Yes! Waxing during pregnancy is generally safe, especially if your pregnancy is healthy and low-risk. Your skin may feel a little more sensitive than usual due to hormone changes, particularly in the bikini area, but many expecting moms choose to keep waxing throughout their pregnancy. If you're in your third trimester or under a doctor’s care for any complications, it’s always a good idea to check in with your physician first.

  • If you’ve just had a basic facial — cleanse, steam, light exfoliation, and a mask — you’re totally fine to get your wax on.

But if your facial included anything stronger (like an AHA or BHA peel, microdermabrasion, or deep exfoliation), hit pause for about 7 days before your wax. We want your skin calm, balanced, and ready for smooth perfection — not overworked.

And if you’ve had a medical-grade or advanced treatment, definitely check with your doctor or provider first before booking your wax. Healthy, happy skin always comes first at Pluck Yeah!

  • We love a good glow, but waxing and fresh tans don’t mix! If you’ve tanned within the last 24 hours—whether it’s from the sun or a spray booth—your skin is extra sensitive and more likely to feel irritated or peel.

Give your skin at least a full day (preferably 48 hours) to chill before your wax. And after your service, wait another 24–48 hours before tanning again so your freshly waxed skin stays smooth, even, and totally Pluck Yeah! flawless.

  • Pluck no!

If your skin is sunburned, peeling, or irritated, we can’t wax it. Waxing removes hair and a thin layer of skin—so putting hot wax on a burn is basically a recipe for pain, irritation, and possible skin damage. Ouch.

Let your skin heal first (usually about 3–7 days after the redness and peeling stops), keep it moisturized, and then we’ll happily get you smooth again.

    • Certain medications and treatments can affect how your skin reacts to body waxing, so it’s important to know when it’s safe and when it’s not. Most medications—like birth control, antidepressants, pain relievers, and most antibiotics—are generally fine for body waxing. However, products and medications such as Retin-A, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, steroid creams, blood thinners, or recent chemical peels can make the skin thinner or more sensitive, increasing the risk of irritation, bruising, or skin lifting during waxing. Chemotherapy and radiation can also make the skin more fragile, and waxing should only be done with a physician’s approval. Body waxing is not safe for anyone currently taking Accutane (isotretinoin), and should only be performed 6–12 months after stopping it. If you’re using any of these medications or undergoing medical treatment, always consult your physician and let your esthetician know before your appointment—your safety comes first, and together we’ll decide if it’s safe to wax or if we should wait.
